FAT DIALYSING STATION
At the core of the EXAFAT kit, the EXAFAT Station is an advanced lipoaspirate purification system, designed to ensure safe, efficient, consistent, and respectful fat purification through a brief, active, and gentle continuous washing–filtration process — Fat Dialysis
SAFE
Operates in a closed-loop system
EFFICIENT
- Dialyses up to 200 mL of lipoaspirate per cycle
- Fast, effortless and time-saver
RESPECTFUL
Preserves adipose cell viability by retaining the SVF niche*
REPEATABLE
Delivers consistent fat purification across multiple cycles
FAT DIALYSIS
REDEFINING FAT PURIFICATION
Fat dialysis is a gentle and highly selective purification process that removes most unwanted components—such as tumescent fluid with drugs, blood (especially red and white blood cells), and oil—from harvested fat through a gravity-driven flow.
Unlike traditional washing or filtering techniques, EXAFAT employs a semi-permeable microfiltration barrier in a cylindrical form. This barrier, with 50-micron pores, allows liquid waste to pass through under controlled hydrostatic pressure.
The result is a significant reduction of contaminants and inflammatory triggers that could compromise graft survival, while maintaining the structural integrity and biological viability of the dialyzed adipose tissue.
INSIDE THE EXAFAT STATION

STAGE 1 – SEPARATION
- Load the cylinder with washing solution (1) and harvested fat tissue (2)
- Gentle yet active mobilization with a spatula
- Non-adipose components are separated by density and move toward the cylinder filter, becoming ready for drainage: Oil rises (3) & Residual blood cells (4), drugs and DAMPs are diluted and suspended
- Viable adipose tissue remains inside the dialysis cylinder

STAGE 2 – CONTINUOUS WASHING & COLLECTION
- Opening the washing inlet and waste outlet simultaneously creates a gentle, continuous flow
- This washing process efficiently removes suspended non-adipose toxic components, while purified fat is retained inside the dialysis cylinder
- Once washing is complete, the washing inlet is closed
- The excess fluid is filtered, and the purified fat is immediately collected and stored for grafting
COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE
EXAFAT vs decantation & centriguation

- EXAFAT retains 20% (±5%) of clean fluid, compared to 33% (±6%) of non-purified fluid with traditional decantation*.
- EXAFAT yields 18% avg. more purified fat than the same input volume processed by decantation*.
- EXAFAT yields 5% avg. more purified fat than the same input volumen processed by Coleman centrifugation*.
–––
Although both dialysis and centrifugation effectively concentrate fat, the dialysis method preserves a higher level of residual hydration without compromising the purified fat volume yield. This feature may positively impact graft take because:
1) It helps protect adipocytes and stromal cells from mechanical damage during injection
2) It enhances injectability and promotes a more uniform fat distribution within the recipient site
Current literature supports the idea that maintaining a certain degree of hydration—though not precisely defined—can help preserve cellular components and facilitate injection. In contrast, excessive dehydration has been associated with increased shear stress and reduced adipocyte viability (Coleman 2007; Conde-Green 2013; Sierra-Sánchez 2020)
